The neurology department of the CHU de Charleroi has become the first hospital in Wallonia to acquire Axilum Robotics’ TMS-Cobot, coupled with the Localite neuronavigation system and a MagVenture coil, a combination used for the first time in Belgium. After a preliminary MRI used to define the brain targets, the robot delivers the magnetic pulses and automatically adapts to the patient’s movements, which frees the operator from manual tasks and improves safety, precision and repeatability. The department, which already runs a non-invasive brain stimulation center for conditions such as stroke, abnormal movements, pain and mood disorders, also expects new research, in particular on transcranial stimulation of the cerebellum.
